The position requires a Masters degree in library science or library and information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association and a minimum of four (4) years post-degree experience in a professional public library position, of which at least two (2) years have been in a position of administration and supervision in a public library. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of all facets of public library service; an enthusiasm for and understanding of small-town librarianship; the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects; excellent communications skills; strong financial management abilities; the ability to work effectively with other governmental agencies, civic and community groups, and the general public; and the ability to address challenges in a collaborative and creative manner. Experience with a library building or renovation project is highly desirable. Familiarity with a district library governance and knowledge of Michigan library law would be a plus.
