Dear Directors, Yes, I got the responses on teen behavior in he library, but the question I have is about personal contact. I have two teens in love and they meet at the library everyday. What kind of personal contact should be permitted, hand holding??? I caught them kissing and put a stop to that. Kissing...probably not. Making out...probably. Are we talking PDA policies now?!? LOL A good patron code of conduct policy should address this. GDL has the following two sections that address this: "Patrons may not disturb others in any manner. Patrons may not behave in a rowdy manner, stare at another person, follow another person about the building, play audio equipment so that others can hear it, sing or talk loudly, use profane or abusive language, or behave in any manner that can reasonably be expected to disturb others." "Patrons may not display materials or make verbal comments or gestures that might reasonably be expected to offend or harass others." Good luck. :o) Dave David Conklin Director Genesee District Library (810) 230-3335 Office (810) 732-1161 Fax dconklin@thegdl.org Genesee District Library Headquarters 4195 W. Do you have a "public affection" policy? If not, it's a questionable act to stop the teens from doing it just because they're teens... Age discrimination, and all. Library Director Alvah N. "Please refrain from inappropriate displays of affection including hugging, kissing, touching with implication of sexual conduct" We enforce it with adults and kids- we try and distinguish between a peck on the cheek and the holding of hands vs people sitting on each others laps and making out. Still a tough balance to walk. MPM On Wed, Mar 14, 2018 at 1:05 PM, BEL Britney Dillon via Michlib-l < michlib-l@mcls.org> wrote:
