David Small's graphic novel follow-up to the award-winning and critically-acclaimed book Stitches, is already being lauded as a masterpiece. Home After Dark: A Novel, is the story of 13-year-old Russell's struggle with not only making new friends, but his own sexuality, after moving to California with his father. The mostly wordless story moves like the best film noir with both small- and large-screen worthy art. Readers will find it difficult not to get swept up in this heartbreaking story of a young, confused boy in the 1950's struggling to survive in a broken home. Join us as we listen to David Small share the story behind this incredible tale. David Small was born and raised in Detroit, MI. He received his MFA at the Yale Graduate School of Art, taught art for many years at the college level, ran a film series, and made satirical sketches for campus newspapers. To date, Small has illustrated more than 40 picture books.
