free SAT test prep from Khan Academy

I heard this on Morning Edition today. Khan Academy is partnering with the College Board to provide free test prep resources for the SAT. Also in the story was a partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs to provide safe places with internet access for kids to use the tools. Public libraries should be part of this, whether as formal partners or not. http://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2015/06/03/411488278/free-online-test-prep-fo... Here's the information from Khan Academy's site: https://www.khanacademy.org/sat Regards Jennifer Jennifer Dye Assistant Manager Lincoln and Wilder branches Detroit Public Library jdye@detroitpubliclibrary.org 313-481-1781 (M-T) 313-481-1871 (W-F)

Hello all, Thanks Jennifer for pointing out Khan Academy. In MeL Teens, College Bound http://teens.mel.org/MeLCollegeBound we link to Khan Academy and CollegeBoard. For CollegeBoard, we link to the CollegeBoard page set up specifically for Michigan, Michigan and the SAT at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/state-partnerships/michigan?excmpi.... For Khan Academy, we have 2 links. One takes you directly to the page for the current SAT https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/sat/full-length-SAT-1 where you can immediately begin practicing on a real, full-length SAT practice test. The second is for the NEW SAT which also includes practice tests. Eunice Eunice C. Borrelli, Michigan eLibrary Internet Librarian Library of Michigan/Michigan Dept. of Education, 702 W. Yes, I should have mentioned that as well. I did know that we had training available via MeL, but didn't think of it when I decided to forward the information. Michigan-specific prep is certainly better than generic. Hi Jennifer and All--Following up on Eunice's post/reply... You all now know that Michigan is switching from the ACT to the SAT in 2016 and MeL will be prepared for that by providing supplemental test prep to what the College Board will be doing with Khan Academy in the LearningExpress Library (LEx) resource. The College Preparation Center of LEx is the place to go to find actual timed practice tests, eBooks and tutorials for the SAT, ACT and others. You can also find additional resources in the Teens Gateway, College Bound section, http://teens.mel.org/MeLCollegeBound as Eunice pointed out. I have been in contact with the College Board to let them know that we have been providing college entrance test prep. here in Michigan at no cost to all for years. In fact, Hoor Bhanpuri of the College Board and I will be presenting a session on our "collaboration" at the Fall MLA Conference in Novi! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
