MeL Minute - BookFlix Enhancements

Hello everyone, The MeL Database<http://mel.org/Databases> BookFlix<http://galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-scholastic.php> provided by Scholastic is a popular resource for educators, libraries and families. Designed for early learners, it pairs videos and books in both fiction and nonfiction in nine categories. Recently, there have been some enhancements to it. First, there are now 33 titles of videos and books en Español. You can find them by noting the red "en español" wrapper around the Go button within the different categories or by selecting the Resources link in the right corner and then sorting for Spanish. Once a title is displayed you can toggle between Spanish and English with a single click. Second, after selecting a title, tools for both videos and books are found in the left margin and include Puzzlers! (for about 115 titles) that can include word match, sequencing (Which Came First?), and fact or fiction exercises relevant to the selected title; meet the author; and, explore the web, which are pre-screened and age appropriate sites relevant to the selected title. Third, some downloadable resources can be found by clicking on the Resources link in the right corner and then on the right again at the link "Click here for downloadable resources". Items include book marks and parent and teacher letters in English and Spanish. MeL Minutes are brought to you by the Library of Michigan. Want more information on MeL?
