Services for Students with visual or hearing disabilities

For those who have K-12 patrons who have a visual impairment or are deaf and/or hard of hearing, the Department of Education has an office that provides resources and services through schools, the Low Incidence Outreach (LIO) office. In an effort to keep libraries informed of services that may be available for their patrons, please find the current LIO newsletter attached. A full description of the LIO Office with contact information is below. The overarching goal is to provide technical assistance and resources to enable local service providers to serve and improve the quality of education for students with a visual impairment or those who are deaf and/or hard of hearing including those with multiple impairments.
