Library opening May 1st?!

Hi! My City manager is planning on us opening fully to the public as of May 1st. We have none of the safeguards in place yet. We don't even know if we will have delivery or the ability to place holds in our shared system. Does this seem crazy to anyone else? I do not think your city manager understands opening fully and what it means. Libraries need to think of how to re-open and protect patrons and serve them without bias while protecting them (sometimes from each other). I think politics have definitely crept into the discussion, which is quite unfortunate. Perhaps you could share with him the considerations document the MCDA (co-op directors) have shared this morning with their members so he will understand the multitude of concerns and planning necessary to be "back to normal" - and it is probably not going to be that, at least not for a long time. ~Sheryl ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sheryl L. Sounds dangerous to both your staff and the public. We plan to open in phases, first drive up only and we will see what happens from there but PPE gear for staff and sneeze guards in place seems like minimal protection that should be in place before opening.
