zooming story times

Do any of your libraries incorporate zooming (music, dance/movement) into your story times? We would like to start using this method, but need some pointers. Thanks! -- Perri Saunders, Director White Pigeon Township Library 102 N. Kalamazoo St., P.O. We had one week a month with Musikgarten programming but had complaints...songs were too unusual and kids missed a craft project. This year we will do music as part of story hour, but with more common songs and rhythm instruments and movement like hokey pokey. I always have two musical interludes. After the first story, we pass out mini-bubbles and listen to music matching the mood or theme of the stories. (I use a variety of music-- Folk, Celtic, Classical, Jazz, Rock. But I hardly ever use "toddler" music!) This goes for about 5 minutes. Kids blow bubbles, spill bubbles, chase bubbles, and even dance. After the second story, we pass out shakers and move along with the song "Shake Your Sillies Out".
