Clarkston Independence District Library JOB POSTING Part-time Youth Librarian Hours: 10-20 hours per week Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience Primary job duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: * Plan, prepare and facilitate programs for children age 0-18 * Provides quick and accurate reference and reader's advisory services to adults, children and teens * Promotes use of the collection through the creation of bibliographies and displays * Assists patrons in learning to use the computer catalog, electronic resources and the Internet * Assists in collection development in assigned areas for selection and weeding * Performs other library duties as assigned Qualifications: * ALA accredited MLS or substantial completion of ongoing studies in an ALA accredited MLS program * Experience working with children and teens * Flexibility to work varied hours * Professional and enthusiastic attitude towards providing public library service to patrons * Familiarity with public library reference sources * Familiarity with popular reading materials and genre collections * Experience using the Internet in reference work * Strong oral and written communication skills * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships * Broad general knowledge base useful in framing and interpreting reference questions * Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems, Polaris preferred * Knowledge of popular office computer programs Send Cover letter and Resume by November 4th by 5:00 pm Anticipated start date December 2013 TO: Andrea R.
