The Oakland County Research Library is seeking a library and information science student or recent graduate to assist with the digitization and indexing of its historic county government documents collection. The collection will be made available to the public through the Oakland County Historical Resources Consortium's website. The goals of this project are to: . Make Oakland County's government documents collection more accessible to the public for research purposes . Promote greater governmental transparency . Preserve the historic government documents collection Duties: . Prepare materials for scanning . Scan materials into digital formats . Upload scanned files into the digital repository used by the consortium . Record descriptive, technical, and structural metadata in the Archival Ware database accurately and with a high attention to detail . Submit files for quality control review and makes changes as directed Qualifications: . Bachelor's degree . High level of computer literacy . Willingness to learn new software and technologies . Working knowledge of digitization projects and scanning equipment preferred . Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat desired . Ability to consistently meet deadlines as assigned . High attention to detail and accuracy . Ability to work independently with minimal direction and as part of a supervised team . Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills Length: Temporary; funded for 25 weeks.
