The Board of the Tamarack District Library seeks a dynamic director to work with an experienced staff of 8 and 8 supportive Trustees. This Class III Library serves approximately 10,250 residents with one facility and 15 unstaffed outreach locations. The Tamarack District Library is a treasured community center, with a 10 year old building and a plethora of amenities for its patrons. The library has an operating millage in perpetuity and a consistently supportive community with many opportunities for community collaboration. The director is responsible for administering the $350,000 budget, policy development and implementation, collection management, library promotion, strategic planning, public relations, and personnel administration. The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree and two to four years of administrative experience - including at least 2 years of public library experience-and possess or be qualified to obtain a Level 3 Certificate from the Library of Michigan. An MLS from an ALA accredited program is preferred. The successful candidate will have a team approach to management, genuine concern for customer satisfaction, a pleasant demeanor, and a sense of humor. He or she must also be comfortable with technology. Lakeview in Montcalm County offers small town charm with access to urban amenities.
