Greetings Michigan Library Community, [cid:image002.png@01D445DF.386F7880]Fake news. Hoax. Media bias. Misinformation. Media literacy is perhaps more important now than ever. But do you have the resources you need to help students and patrons? The Michigan eLibrary is here to help! Just in time for the new school year, MeL and Gale have compiled the "Fake News Frenzy: A Guide to Resources for Librarians and Teachers<http://bit.ly/FNResources>." Resources include links to articles, videos, lesson plans, games, websites, and more. There are even recommended books with a link to MeLCat<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmel.org%2F&data=02%7C01%7CNorrisS2%40michigan.gov%7C5426ea8791764dc7dd5e08d611c5a806%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C636715937980572378&sdata=eAJSMzgd0sU0%2FlH1oKNI0Q5rUSNHna8Mgk5LVn96bGs%3D&reserved=0> for each! Another great resource for combating fake news here in Michigan is Gale's Opposing Viewpoints in Context<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.galesupport.com%2Fmigeoipcheck%2Fmigeoipcheck-gale.php%3Fdatabase%3DOVIC&data=02%7C01%7CNorrisS2%40michigan.gov%7C5426ea8791764dc7dd5e08d611c5a806%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C636715937980572378&sdata=7lMn5Hw%2BzHUhXugwjyjKLwspGR6Wrl9PiKRVyD%2Fa%2F8I%3D&reserved=0> (OViC). It is an engaging online experience for those seeking contextual information and opinions on hundreds of today's hottest social issues. This database features continuously updated viewpoints, topic overviews, full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, statistics, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted websites organized into a user-friendly portal experience. And to help users learn how to navigate Opposing Viewpoints in Context while learning a bit about fake news, we are pleased to share with you "Escaping Fake News: A Virtual Breakout<http://bit.ly/EscapingFN>." This experience is based off of traditional escape rooms and classroom breakouts, but is all done virtually! In this particular breakout, participants will help SuperGale and Captain Database escape from Professor Decepto's lab so they can get to class on time. All you need in order to complete the escape is access to OViC<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.galesupport.com%2Fmigeoipcheck%2Fmigeoipcheck-gale.php%3Fdatabase%3DOVIC&data=02%7C01%7CNorrisS2%40michigan.gov%7C5426ea8791764dc7dd5e08d611c5a806%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C636715937980572378&sdata=7lMn5Hw%2BzHUhXugwjyjKLwspGR6Wrl9PiKRVyD%2Fa%2F8I%3D&reserved=0> and a printed copy of the "Escaping Fake News Clue Answer Sheet<http://bit.ly/EFN-Clues>." Good luck and have fun! Brought to you by Christine Schneider of the MeL Team. MeL is transforming on October 1! New eResources, a new website, and a new logo will make their debuts. The latest information about eResource changes, including training opportunities, can be found at our Get Ready<http://mel.org/index.php?P=P_GetReady_Display> page. #IMLSGrant Sonya Schryer Norris Library Consultant Library of Michigan 702 W.
