Board Game Shelving
Hello Large and Lovely Library Brains! I have a generous donor who would like to buy us some new shelving. I would really like to spruce up the shelving for my board games. Currently, they just sit on regular book shelves, looking haphazard. Do you have a brilliant board game shelving solution? Where did you get it? Extra points for pictures! Thank you as always for your excellent guidance. Good morning! I wonder if a magazine shelf would work? The kind where it is a slanted shelf, in which then all of the tops of the games are showing. I know that, like books, the box sides also mention the game. However, I would imagine that the slight tilt shelf would create a safe box environment if you will - meaning you wouldn't necessarily need to reinforce the box with rubberbands or anything of the nature. I am also attaching another iteration of a magazine rack that came up in my results. This particular one might not be the most sturdy, but this interesting display style might draw more attention to the collection! No immediate solution, but a caveat: avoid turning them on edge to shelve them like books! It's tempting, but many boardgames have open trays inside with many small pieces or cards are sorted by color, or type, and putting the box on edge turns them all into a big sorting puzzle. Putting small pieces and card decks into ziplock-style bags helps. Bradley A.
