NDL to host Author Candacy Taylor virtually this Thursday, 2/17 at 7 PM

Dear Michlib-L, NDL invites you to join us this Thursday, February 17 at 7 PM via zoom for a talk & presentation with Candacy Taylor, award-winning author, photographer, cultural documentarian and curator/content specialist for an exhibition that toured in 2020 by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES). She will discuss her book, the Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America (Abrams Books) and answer questions. The Green Book listed hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and other businesses that were safe for black travelers. It was a resourceful and innovative solution to a horrific problem. It took courage to be listed in the Green Book, and [ https://catalog.tln.lib.mi.us/?section=resource&resourceid=725492462¤tIndex=1&view=allCopiesDetailsTab | Overground Railroad ] celebrates the stories of those who put their names in the book and stood up against segregation.
