Library directorship open at Hillsdale Community Library

Position: Library Director @ 40 hours per week for a Class IV Municipal (Public) Library. The Hillsdale Community Library Board of Trustees is seeking an experienced, innovative, resourceful and creative Library Director to provide vision, management, leadership and the commitment to bring this library to new levels of growth and service. Position Requirements: Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution. The ability to obtain a Librarian's Professional Certificate from the State Library of Michigan. A minimum of two (2) years preferably four years (4) of progressively responsible library administrative experience in a public library comparable to the size of Hillsdale is preferred. The successful candidate will have significant financial management experience, strong human relations skills, a knowledge of and vision for using library technology to improve services, the ability to connect with the community and network with other organizations. Proven leadership and communication skills as well as creative problem-solving are desirable. Region: The city of Hillsdale is located in South Central Michigan, bordering Indiana and Ohio. This incorporated community has a population of approximately 9,000 residents. As the conty seat for Hillsdale County, the City of Hillsdale was established in 1839 and chartered in 1869. Hillsdale is home to Hillsdale College, and numerous industrial, commercial and residential developments that provide a variety of opportunities to people from local and surrounding areas. The Hillsdale Community Library (formally the Mitchell Public Library) was established in 1908. Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience. Benefit package included.
