Hello all I was looking a children's computer and wondered if anyone had the Awe or Learning computer or if your using something else. Just needed some recommendations. Thanks Sandy Johnson Howe Memorial Library 128 E. Saginaw St. Breckenridge, Mi. 48615 989-842-3202

We had one, at one time. I installed a Linux distro that was all games. That one doesn’t seem to be offered any more. Here is an article that might offer some help. http://www.alandmoore.com/blog/2013/01/31/building-a-linux-system-for-a-chil... Don Bosman Information Technologist MSU Libraries 366 W. We bought 3 awes about a year and a half ago and an awe tablet for our branches. The kids and parents LOVE them. They are easy to set up and maintain. The only problems I've had are 1 dead mouse and 1 dead keyboard. They were replaced free of charge with no hassle. The tablet had a bit of a learning curve since it's not on an i-pad platform. People have adjusted and it's used regularly too. We bought the gorilla glass case for it, but staff removed it because it's hard to see the side buttons for volume, on/off, etc. ------------------ Donna Winter, Automation Services Librarian Livonia Civic Center Library 32777 Five Mile Road Livonia, MI 48154 ph: 734-466-2675 ----- Original Message -----

We have two AWE that were bought at different times so they have slightly different programs on them. They are pretty popular with younger children, although we too have had problems with the mice dying. The only other problem we have is that children need guidance on the systems and if a parent isn't around staff members sometimes spend a good amount of time helping the children. -Kat Boyer Kat Boyer Interim Director Benton Harbor Public Library On Tue, Mar 17, 2015 at 11:06 AM, Donna Winter <dwinter@livonia.lib.mi.us> wrote:
