Wauseon is located 30 miles west of Toledo, OH. The library serves a population of approximately 10,000+ with a 9,000 square foot, single site library with a 2007 renovated Children’s Department and 2016 building renovation. Wauseon Public Library has a 2022 operating budget of just over 2 million, 6 full-time and 2 part-time employees. The library is administered by a 7 member Board of Trustees. The Wauseon Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking a director with three to five years of library management experience (MLS preferred), strong computer/technical skills and excellent people skills. The successful candidate will be sensitive to how the library fits into the unique community of Wauseon and will work respectfully with both staff and patrons. The ideal director will value and support staff members, uphold library standards, communicate with people easily, be an effective listener, appreciate the library’s and community’s history and traditions, and have strong leadership skills. The board seeks a director who is consistent in policy matters but also creative and flexible in his or her thinking. Salary range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
