Plant swap program guidance needed

We are looking to host a plant swap.im looking for advice from anyone who had hosted one. How do you not turn it into a free for all? Do you limit plants people can bring to swap? What if a person comes who has no plants But wants to get started via the swap? Length time? The good, the bad and the ugly. Let me know how it went. Also did you have a a gadget on hand to help with questions regarding the plants? Do you give them a half hr to browse and than swap? Thank you in advance! -- Pamela Feutz Adult Services Tamarack District Library 832 S Lincoln Lakeview Mi 48850 Currently Reading Get your own email signature

When we did a plant swap a few years ago, I asked people to bring the plants (no limit on number of plants) they were swapping a day prior to the swap. For each plant they brought, I gave them a ticket that they could use to "purchase" plants the following day during the swap. If people brought extra plants they didn't want tickets for, I set those aside for anyone who arrived at the swap without a plant to trade. I had the plants set up on tables and I believe the event took place from 12-4 as a come and go activity. It went well without being a free for all. I'm sure I added a book display of plant and gardening books they could check out, but I didn't have any specific literature for the plants that were available other than plant name identification tags. We had a pretty good variety and it was fun. On Wed, Apr 14, 2021 at 3:54 AM ML Tamarack Circulation via Michlib-l < michlib-l@mcls.org> wrote:
