Hi All--I'm just reading an article in the Nov./Dec. issue of American Libraries (pg. 18-19) on public libraries who have coloring book clubs. I recently purchased some "adult" coloring books as I loved to color as a child and think it would be a good stress reliever; wondering if any Michigan libraries are doing this? Have a great weekend! Hi Deb, Our branch will be hosting its first adult coloring program, De-Stress During the Holidays, on Saturday, December 12. We will color by the fireplace with soft holiday music playing and we'll be serving hot cocoa. To avoid copyright issues, we are removing the pages from the book and patrons may select what they like. We have a Coloring for Grown-ups once a week. It is very successful and the age range is 30-94. Nice conversations abound. Cathy Carter On Fri, Nov 20, 2015 at 10:32 AM, Jeanette Marks < jmarks@baycountylibrary.org> wrote:

We have "Peaceful Pages" every week, the adults really like it. Am thinking of having tea, or warm cider available for them. Last week one of the adults asked if they could display their finished work. I think that would be fun, the group is still small and would perhaps bring in more people. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. Kathy On Fri, Nov 20, 2015 at 10:36 AM, Benzie Shores District Library < bsdl@benzieshoreslibrary.org> wrote:

Our Library held a successful Coloring & Conversation program in October. We scheduled 2 more in November, a daytime and an evening. Again, a great turnout, in fact we were nearly at capacity at the evening session that we are now offering them monthly. The evening session has several sign ups already for December. We played soft background music and provide refreshments, although I don't think either is necessary. We printed off several coloring pages from online websites onto card stock and provided a variety for patrons to choose from. The Holiday pages were a hit at the last program. We purchased several packs of colored pencils for patrons to use, they had to leave them at the library but we found that many people brought their own gel pens and markers. Tables were set up couple of different ways and they preferred the tables in a board room setup so they were all facing each other rather than a classroom setup. Southfield is going to host 2 all ages coloring programs in December and Feburary. We've also created our own coloring book geared toward kids. It's a great handout in the library but also when visiting classrooms, community events, etc. Thanks, Kelly Kelly Ireland Rembert Outreach Librarian Southfield Public Library 26300 Evergreen Rd.
