Questions for Pinckney and any other libraries who’ve had a similar type jigsaw puzzle assembly contest (because we’re considering doing something like this at my library): What is the fastest time a 500-piece puzzle has been put together at your event? And what is the largest number of people you’ve had participate? Thanks! Jean, We've always done 1000-piece puzzle and the fastest was during the first contest in 2014. We had a 4-person group finish in an hour & a half. Subsequent contests have had teams finish in 2 hours or a little more than 2 hours. (We usually have a team finish by lunch, then it just becomes a free-for-all when everyone hops to other teams to help them finish up their puzzles. It's been really fun the past four times we've done the program.) Let me know if you have other questions. We don't mind sharing our "lessons learned". :) Hope S. Oops! Forgot to add, you asked how many people have participated. We started with 4 teams the first time we offered it. We grew to 7 or 8 teams, I think, this winter when we did Puzzle Palooza IV. There's usually 3 or 4 to a team. Usually, when I have enough leftover prizes from Adult Summer Reading, I'd give out second place winner prizes if we have more that 5 teams participating. Like I said though, the cool part is that after the first and second teams win, everyone just goes around the room and starts helping all the other teams finish up.
