Candid Foundation Directory-Feedback
Good afternoon Michigan libraries! If your organization subscribes to (or has in the past) to the Candid/Foundation Grant Directory online for your patrons, I would appreciate any/all feedback you can provide me. Thank you everyone! Hi Jessica, When I was at Genesee District Library, we subscribed and I taught a few classes on using Foundation Directory that ended up being fairly popular. This was shortly before Covid, and things fizzled out. It's a great resource for anyone looking for potential grant opportunities, but I think people often want to use it to find grants to apply to. In reality, Foundation Directory is really more about finding foundations that people can approach for money, not for already outlined grant opportunities. Great resource, if a bit of a learning curve. I think it really shines for libraries when accompanied by classes/other resources to help patrons understand how to use it. Jessica, As Ryan noted, GDL subscribed to the Foundation Directory and then dropped it because of the high cost and very low usage. However, things do change. We recently resubscribed for the following reasons: * We are paying much less than before. * Access is way better than before as we used to only have it available in two of our branches.
