TLN Adult Service Fall Workshop

The TLN Adult Service Committee invites you to attend our 2014 Fall Workshop "PUTTING ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER" Wednesday, September 17, 2014 Plymouth District Library 9 AM -- 1 PM Session 1: 9:30 -- 10:30 AM Doing More with Less: Ideas on How to Survive and Thrive How does a library do more with less? How do your effectively serve your patrons without sacrificing programming and key services. What roles do your staff and community play when resources are limited? Jenni Gannod, Director of the Clawson Blair Memorial Library, will share her insights and tips as to what works for this Class III library Session 2: 10:45 -- 11:45 AM Lending a Helping Hand: Volunteers and Libraries Libraries limited on staffing, may turn to volunteers to help out. Susan Stoney, Volunteer Coordinator for the Plymouth District Library will present on basic volunteer philosophy. She will include the history of volunteers at Plymouth, and what steps are needed to obtain, train and maintain a volunteer staff. Session 3: 12:00 -- 1:00 PM Beyond the Book Sale: Fundraising for Public Libraries Creativity is unlimited when it comes to fundraising. A panel of three will present on their experiences with fundraising and how others can duplicate the same ideas at their own library. Speakers include: Lynn Severini, Circulation Department Coordinator from Gross Pointe Woods Library, Emily Meloche, Adult Librarian from Chelsea District Library and Carol Souchock, Director of the Plymouth District Library. Registration: Workshop check-in begins at 9 AM with the first workshop session beginning at 9:30 AM. Continental breakfast and workshop materials will be provided. Rates are as follow: $15 for TLN-affiliated libraries, $20 for attendees from libraries not part of TLN, and $10 for library/information science students. This year we are offering two methods of payment for online registration. You can either pay with a check or credit card.
