Million, Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Michigan's Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research. The session will focus on data from Project Outcome, a free toolkit and online resource developed by the Public Library Association with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It enables libraries to document the outcomes resulting from their programming. Project Outcome emerged to address a need among libraries to measure performance in a way that goes beyond the quantity of services provided, which is already captured in the Public Library Survey (PLS). Outcome measurement focuses on the benefits that patrons realize from library interactions. Since its launch in 2015, Project Outcome has collected over 390,000 survey responses from nearly 2,300 library districts. A.J. will report on data from Project Outcome and provide descriptive statistics about libraries that demonstrate the national value they provide to communities. Million, Ph.D. is an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Michigan's Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, where he directs the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data. His research examines public-sector technology use, scholarly communication, knowledge infrastructures, research data management, public administration, and libraries. Dr. Million holds a Ph.D. in Information Science & Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri, and his work has been funded by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, Centers for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health, Institute for Museum and Library Services, and the American Association of Universities.
