AARP Tax-Aide Seeks Volunteers (Oakland County)

Press Release for Immediate Release October 21, 2014 Needed: AARP Tax-Aide Volunteers (Oakland County) The AARP Tax-Aide Program is a national volunteer program founded in 1968 and sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation, in partnership with local community centers. Tax aide volunteers are being recruited now, for Southeast Oakland County, to provide free tax preparation services to low and moderate income taxpayers, especially seniors. Volunteers of all ages are needed for tax preparation and support positions: · Good with numbers? Be a tax volunteer · Skilled in all things digital? Be a technology coordinator · Organized? Help sort tax paperwork, distribute materials, etc. · Love working with people? Be a greeter. · Want to help us get the word out? Be a communications coordinator. This past year our local Tax-Aide sites provided free tax preparation or tax counseling to over 4,000 citizens of SE Oakland County and its surrounding communities. The majority of these local clients are low income seniors in Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, Clawson, Ferndale, Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Southfield, Troy and surrounding communities. Volunteers will receive training in tax law, tax return preparation and IRS tax software during the month of January, 2015 for the tax season starting in February.
