Sterling Heights Public Library - PT Youth Services Librarian Job Posting

The City of Sterling Heights is seeking a Part Time Librarian with a Youth Services focus who is committed to the mission of the Sterling Heights Public Library and capable of providing excellent library services and programming for patrons! The base pay is $27.78 / Hour with increases every 6 months and 40 hours of paid time off (PTO) per year. Position Summary The part-time librarian position reports to the Service Area Coordinator and is responsible for reference and readers advisory services, collection development activities, instruction in the use of the library and its resources, and in updating and verifying the bibliographic content of the catalog database. The part-time librarian also develops and presents programs and provides a high-level of customer service to all library patrons. The current vacancy is located within Youth Services. Minimum Requirements Master's Degree in Library Science *Consideration may be given to candidates currently enrolled in a Master of Library and Information Science program, obtaining their MLIS within 6 months Strong oral and written communication skills Knowledge to create and conduct programs for children Ability to work evening and weekend work schedule Knowledge of online databases, reference resources, and public computer applications to assist the general public Experience with Polaris LEAP automation system Knowledge of popular reading trends in children's literature Knowledge of tablet and mobile devices and the ability to help patrons use them for accessing Overdrive, Hoopla, and other digital services Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the general public Applications must be submitted by 5:00pm on Monday, July 3, 2023 at https://www.sterling-heights.net/487/Apply-for-a-City-Job Check out the recruitment brochure for further information and details via the following link: https://www.sterling-heights.net/DocumentCenter/View/11371/Part-Time-Librari...
