Good morning library land, I am sharing with you all a tech alert: It has been determined that the latest update to Windows 11 version 24H2 KB5065426 has broken file and printer sharing between computers. [ https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5551014/kb5065426-update... | https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5551014/kb5065426-update... ] When attempting to manually connect file and/or printer sharing, there are error messages stating that the login to the share is incorrect even if the credentials are correctly entered. I have tested and confirmed that a temporary solution to this issue is to uninstall this latest update. You can run this command in Powershell as Administrator: wusa /uninstall /kb:5065426 Once you restart the affected computer, the update will uninstall and file and printer sharing will work once again. I have paused updates on the affected computers for now. This is unfortunately only a temporary solution because we don't want to leave computers behind on security updates for too long, the permanent fix will be when Microsoft patches this issue. There is a report within that Microsoft thread attached above that Windows 10 is seeing similar issues. If you are still using Windows 10, you can try running the same command but replacing the kb number with the latest Windows 10 security update's kb. This issue effects environments where files and/or printers are shared from one computer to other computers, so if you are not seeing any errors, it should be safe to disregard this message.
