Dear Fellow Librarians, We have a new Story Line on one of our phone lines. Does anyone know if copy right laws apply to these stories? -- *Lynne Clark, Director* *River Rapids Library/Chesaning*

Hi, Yes, copyright laws do apply to story lines. Remember, most publishers have gone back to their traditional ways of providing permission since lifting those for 2020, so be sure to check with each publisher individually, as their rules vary. Here’s more information on recording copyrighted books<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/libraries/admin/librarylaw/other/copyright-and-streaming-storytime> compiled by Clare Membiela, LM’s Library Law Consultant.
