Left Over Book Sale Books

Hi Everyone, Our Friends of the Library is interested in exploring more options for what to do with books left over after our book sales. We already have a process where we check to see if books are of enough value to sell online and we of course try and recycle leftovers at the end. What our Friends are interested in is finding out if there are any opportunities to get these books into the hands of people or organizations that might benefit. There is even a possibility that our Friends would be able to deliver the books. If you have any thoughts on who we should reach out to, we would greatly appreciate it your thoughts and ideas. Please send your thoughts to our director, Lori Coryell at lcoryell@chelseadistrictlibrary.org Sincerely, Keegan -- Keegan Sulecki Head of Adult Services Chelsea District Library 221 S. Bibliomaniac that I am, I've noticed this question pop up from time to time. Contact <BetterWorldBooks.com> which will not only sell them, but use money to support various literacy projects. I haven't contacted them from the library end as so far I've found local ways to recycle, but have bought a lot from them and many of their books are ex libris. From what I recall on the list, there's a way to get a local pick-up . . . check <http://www.betterworldbooks.com/go/donation-library> -- Lois Sprengnether Keel Website:<http://www.LoiS-sez.com>, Blog:<http://www.StorytellingResearchLoiS.com>, * Storyteller in MI Arts and Humanities Directory * In Historical Society of Michigan Directory <http://www.hsmichigan.org/resources/storytellers- speakers-musicians/storyteller- lois-sprengnether-keel/> * State Liaison for National Storytelling Network * Webmaster for<http://www.MichiganStorytelling.org> On 8/3/2016 3:14 PM, Keegan Sulecki wrote:

Recycle your own with clear bags.....just wait til you see the garbage truck coming before you put it out....that way no one can dig through it and claim you are tossing good books. :) Joann CraterDirectorHudson Carnegie District Library (zv170)205 S. Try contacting shelters, group homes, correctional facilities, etc. in your area to see if they want to come choose books to take when your sale is ending. You can also reduce the number of your remainders by offering a ridiculous bargain for the last few hours of the sale. We encourage sale shoppers to come back for bag day when we will be selling books for $5, $4, $3, $2, & $1 a bag with the price dropping each hour in the in the last 4 hours of the sale. I remind shoppers that at $1 a bag, they can afford to buy books for everyone that they know! Please send your thoughts to our director, Lori Coryell at lcoryell@chelseadistrictlibrary.org Sincerely, Keegan-- Keegan SuleckiHead of Adult Services Chelsea District Library221 S.
