We are realizing we might be in need of an official animal policy and wonder what other libraries have as part of their policy for animals (particularly service animals). It seems that under Michigan state law ( http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(nqmwg4pr2ildic24fhb2oyzd))/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&objectname=mcl-750-502c) we are allowed to ask if an animal is a service animal, and if the patron says yes we basically have to take them at their word. Could you send me your policies? We're also curious if any other libraries have had an attorney's involvement in drafting service animal policies.
