Personal Days Question

Good Morning, Clare, Our current Personal Days Policy states that "Three (3) personal days are given to each full-time employee per calendar year after completion of one year of employment.Personal days do not accrue. No compensation is given for unused personal days at termination, retirement, resignation or death.Employees electing to use personal leave must notify the library in advance. Personal leave must be used as whole days in eight-hour blocks." We have an employee that is RETIRING on January 9th, and per this policy will be able to take his three personal days for 2025 in January before he retires. I am re-writing this policy for our new policy manual and would like to state something to the effect that you can't be a jerk about it... What is FAIR when it comes to personal days?
