TITLE: YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN REPORTS TO: LIBRARY DIRECTOR JOB CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT LIBRARY: SPRING LAKE DISTRICT LIBRARY SALARY: $38,000 - $42,000 The Spring Lake District Library is a Class IV library located in Spring Lake, Michigan, west of Grand Rapids and very close to Lake Michigan with its beautiful beaches. Exciting local events like the Coast Guard Festival and proximity to three larger cities make Spring Lake an attractive place to work and live. The library serves a population of 18,260 and is part of the Lakeland Library Cooperative. The library has a dynamic youth program currently in place with activities like Lego Club, Full STEAM Ahead, Baby, Toddler, and Preschool Storytimes, and is looking for an enthusiastic and creative person to provide leadership and continue to grow the scope of youth services. There is an opportunity for supervisory experience as well. This is a full-time professional position. The essential function of this job is to manage the Youth Services department, which includes planning and executing library programs for children and youth, marketing youth library services in the community, creating marketing materials such as posters, flyers, and brochures, providing collection development and evaluation of the youth services collection, and providing reference and information services to patrons of all ages. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in a humanities field. Professional Librarians Certificate from the State of Michigan or credentials to qualify for certification. Preferred Qualifications: Master of Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited college or university or currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited program. Successful experience as a youth librarian in a public library.
