One of the options we will have with a new circ system (Apollo) next month is to allow patrons to pay fines, etc. through PayPal. We would be interesting from hearing from libraries who offer this option. Some of our specific questions are: 1. Can or do you charge extra to cover the service fees from PayPal? 2. Is there a minimum amount you allow the patrons to charge? 3. How do you know what was paid for? Since we have not seen this, we are assuming that the patron's record is cleared when they okay the charge, but we will also need to know if an item was lost & paid for as well as which branch is bringing in the money. Any comments will be appreciated. If there is interest, I am willing to post the response to the list. -- Margaret Bentley Adult Services Librarian Shiawassee District Library--Owosso 502 W. Hi Margaret, As part of The Library Network, PayPal payments are an option for patrons. There is no extra charge for patrons, there is a $5.00 minimum, and TLN generates a report for our library, indicating what was paid. It works quite well. Of the PayPal payments that come to Brighton, there is a fee deducted for PayPal. However, we have been pleased with the 'results'.
