Hello everyone, My library recently started offering a new service, an emergency diaper kit, for our families with younger children or babies. We have had 3 parents/grandparents use this service and have found it incredibly useful. This idea was brought to our attention by a mom who wanted to carry less with her as her child got older, but every time she was away from home and didn't bring a diaper was the one time her toddler needed a change. A lot of times there are parents who are either taking a quick trip to the library, or maybe stop in unexpectedly and just need a little help in the diapering area. In order to make sure our kits did not just get swiped, we have a sign in our toddler bathroom (nearest the children's area) for parents or caregivers to ask if they need a diapering kit. We do not have actual kits made up, but we have diapers in several sizes in one of our staff areas along with wipes. When it is requested, we grab the appropriate size diaper and the wipes box for them to use. I just wanted to pass this along in case there are other libraries out there who might want to begin offering the same service. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I may not be able to answer since this is a new service we just started offering, but I can definitely try to answer any questions you may have. -- *"I think books are like people, in the sense that they'll turn up in your life when you most need them." - Emma Thompson* *Lorry Traver* Public Services Librarian Brandon Township Library 248-627-1460
