Library Manager Pickford Community Library - A Superior District Library Pickford, MI - Located in the beautiful Upper Peninsula The Pickford Community seeks a visionary, positive, proactive, and collaborative Library Manager and you may be the perfect candidate! The new Manager will lead the library into a new era of service, working collaboratively with the community and district through diverse partnerships to build on services that are highly valued by those who live in, work in and visit Pickford. The successful candidate will advance the <https://www.carlsbadca.gov/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=35968> Superior District Library's Strategic Plan, providing meaningful, quality library and cultural services and programs to community residents. The position reports to the Superior District Library Director and works directly with the other eight libraries in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Key opportunities include: continuing to be a community connector; exploring additional external partnerships; enhancing the existing partnerships with support organizations; designing department services and programs to respond to community expectations; and developing and retaining an engaged and empowered staff. Responsibilities. This position provides oversight and management of the Pickford Community Library. Under general policy direction, this position plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates library programs; performs professional library work; and performs related administrative responsibilities as required. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (1) managing staff, setting goals and objectives; selecting, training and motivating staff; and assessing performance; (2) representing the Library in the community and at professional meetings as required; (3) coordinating library related activities with other community departments, divisions, schools, and outside agencies; (4) submitting a proposed annual budget to the Director, oversight of the budget and spending, ordering materials for the library; and (5) attending continuing education workshops and staff days. Qualifications. Any combination equivalent to experience and education that will provide the required knowledge and abilities may qualify a prospective candidate. The successful candidate will also demonstrate visionary leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build productive relationships through political acumen and effectiveness, promote collaborative partnerships through civic engagement, and a thorough knowledge of current trends, technologies and "best practices" for library and cultural services.
