HI, Does anyone have a suggestion for a training on incorporating musical instruments into storytime? At the Brighton District Library the staff is trained in ECRR2 and understand why music is important in storytime. We are looking for training on incorporating musical insturments, beside shaker eggs, into our storytimes. All suggestions are welcome! -- Mary Daugherty Early Literacy Specialist Brighton District Library (810) 229-6571 maryd@brightonlibrary.info

Most percussion instruments are great for the kids. I use ukulele in my storytimes. At the conclusion of storytime, I pass around a plastic uke for the kids to strum (Kala Waterman). I had guitar lessons, but I am self-taught on the ukulele. I did see that Laurie Berkner has an online teacher licensing program, The Music in Me.
