Hello, I was wondering if anyone subscribed to this list might have data to share regarding the impact of school libraries on test scores. I know there is the School Libraries Work report, but I was hoping for data specific to Michigan, almost a case study of sorts. We are trying to advocate for full-time librarians in our district and I am hoping that local data may have more of an impact. I had sent the below response to Stacie - but thought others might be interested in the information. Also, the Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL) does have a member listserv and a great community that supports each other. All are welcome! http://www.mimasl.org/join-masl.html *Some information*: Here is an evidence document from the Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL) - bit.ly/slibevid which cites a Michigan study. Here is a graphic from the Michigan study about 4th-grade reading. Some other advocacy tools -- a one-page flyer (double-sided) -- from MASL (formerly called MAME) with Michigan information. (See attached) a one-page flyer from ALA at: https://ilovelibraries.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/students-reach-greater... Let me know if you need anything else or support in your advocacy work. --Kathy Lester Kathy Lester, MLIS, MA *Advocacy Co-Chair, Past-President 2014, * Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL) *President, 2022-2023* American Association of School Librarians (AASL) *Councilor At Large* American Library Association (ALA) *School Library Media Specialist / Technology Coach, * *East Middle School, Plymouth-Canton Schools* *SL21 Model Library, 2017-2018* *SL21 Exemplary Ranking - Michigan School Libraries for the 21st Century 2019-2022* *ISTE Making IT Happen Award Winner* *2017 MAME Michigan School Library Program of the Year* *2012 **State Librarian's Excellence Award Winner* kathyL@mimasl.org twitter: @LibraryL <https://twitter.com/LibraryL> "Every school librarian is a leader; every learner has a school librarian" --American Association of School Librarians <http://www.ala.org/aasl/sites/ala.org.aasl/files/content/advocacy/tools/docs/AASL_Position_Statement_Effective_SLP_2018.pdf> (AASL) On Fri, Apr 14, 2023 at 11:03 AM Stacie Dacko via Michlib-l < michlib-l@mcls.org> wrote:
