Michigan Notable Book Tour - Delta College

She will be at Delta College to discuss her book on April 12, 2016. Great Girls in Michigan History, Patricia Majher Date: Tuesday April 12, 2016 Time: 2 pm to 3 pm Place: Room S105 - Delta College Admission: Free Great Girls in Michigan History, Patricia Majher, Wayne State University Press Great Girls in Michigan History highlights 20 girls from Michigan's past who did amazing things before they turned twenty years old. Featured are aviator Nancy Harkness (Love), pioneer Anna Howard Shaw, escaped slave Dorothy Butler, professional baseball player Marilyn Jenkins, union leader Myra Komaroff (Wolfgang), and Native American writer Jane Johnston (Schoolcraft). Other more famous figures-including First Lady Betty Bloomer (Ford), jockey Julie Krone, Motown star Diana Ross, and tennis champion Serena Williams are also included. Patricia Majher is a graduate of Central Michigan University where she received a BA in journalism. She earned her MS in historic preservation at Eastern Michigan University after which she joined the Mackinac State Historic Parks division as the public relations and marketing officer. She currently serves as editor of Michigan History magazine and was the assistant director/curator at the Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame. Great Girls in Michigan History is her second book. Her first was titled Ladies of the Lights: Michigan Women in the U.S. Lighthouse Service.
