Good morning, We are having security cameras installed for the first time and it suddenly dawned on me I probably need to put up signs alerting the public that we have them (once they go live). If you have security cameras, how do you notify the public and is there a Michigan public act that covers this? I already discussed with the police chief and company rep that cameras cannot be pointed at or capture certain information protected under the Library Privacy Act. Thank you, Jessica Little Library Director T.A. Cutler Memorial Library 312 Michigan Ave. Saint Louis, Michigan 48880 (989) 681-5141

Hello Jessica: There are a few things to consider. I will send you some information on security cameras and policies, placement, laws, etc. (and I will also send it to MichLib-L). I am completing a few other requests, but expect information by the end of the day or in the morning tomorrow. Thanks! Clare Clare D. Membiela, MLS, J.D.
