Graphic Artist Community Outreach Job Description Under the direction of the Community Outreach Coordinator, the Graphic Artist uses appropriate software and technology to design publications and flyers for various library events, activities, programs and services. The Graphic Artist will work with personnel through the library to design attractive and consistent library displays, signage and artistic touches as requested. The Graphic Artist will work with the Community Outreach Department to assist in public relations and marketing campaigns. Job Duties: Design, printing and distribution of all library publications supporting library events, activities, services and programs. Ensures that all information appearing in library publications is correct, including dates, times, spelling, etc. Assist with library displays, visual merchandising projects and items throughout the library that could benefit from an artistic touch. Maintains information on work completed in an orderly manner. Participates in Community Outreach Divisional Meetings. Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school graduate and post high school training in graphic arts Minimum of two years progressively responsible experience in a graphic arts related field. Knowledge of graphic arts principles and procedures including design, color theory and printing process. Skills Required Comprehensive knowledge of the Adobe Graphic Suite including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop on SC6 level. Drawing and illustrating ability and to render those drawings into the computer. Excellent spelling skills. Ability to communicate effectively in friendly and courteous manner. Ability to organize work, set priorities and handle multiple tasks with multiple deadlines. Ability to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail.
