It's with a heavy heart that I share with you the passing of Larry Ostrowski, who died peacefully at his home following a long, painful fight with Multiple System Atrophy. Larry was a dedicated Director and a real gentleman Librarian who was always kind and compassionate. During his ten years as the White Lake Library Director, Larry was an active "working" friend of the Library. He was proud of the annual Friends of the Library Mini-golf fundraiser and personally hauled the course to many other libraries for fundraisers. Representing the Library and embracing a life of community service, Larry was happily involved with many causes in White Lake. He was active on the committees which planned and implemented the Community Tree Lighting, Easter Egg Hunt, Pumpkin Hunt, and Fisk Farm Festival. He trained to be a Volunteer Firefighter and attended the Citizens Police Academy, where they marveled at his skills as a marksman. Larry and his wife Margaret were also active members of the Historical Society, Huron Valley Optimist Club, Highland/ White Lake Business Association, and especially Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The funeral will be tomorrow in Toledo with visitation today at the Coyle Funeral Home.
