Wednesday, April 12th at 6pm. Registration now open* The Michigan Chapter of the Special Libraries Association cordially invite all colleagues to our meeting on Wednesday, April 12th. The topic of our panel discussion will be - Who is Hiring? The Job Market for Librarians and Information Professionals Are job opportunities for librarians and information professionals expanding or contracting? What types of organizations are actually hiring? Which are the most demanded skills? To help us better understand today’s employment prospects, SLA’s Michigan Chapter has invited Brad Rogers, Director of Recruiting for LibGig at LAC Group, Anne Herron, Vice President of Business Intelligence at AIM, and Ann Lee from Dow Jones to share their insights about the job market’s realities. Brad Rogers, responsible for managing recruitment at one of the nation’s leading library and information staffing services, will discuss the hiring trends that he encounters in his daily practice. Anne Herron, who employs a wide range of specialists to work on her firm’s strategic intelligence initiatives, will focus on required job skills to successfully meet their clients’ demands. Ann Lee, an Account Development Executive for Dow Jones, knows who is buying and using information. By helping us follow the information, she will provide insight into potential job growth areas. All Michigan SLA members, library and information school students and other information professionals are invited to come and hear this panel presentation and participate in the discussion.
