Library colleagues, I hope that you are following the statewide (and now national) discussion around Michigan's SB 571, which was passed by the legislature late last week. The bill is expected to be formally presented to Governor Snyder soon. Michigan Library Association and EveryLibrary have expressed concerns about its impact on the ability of libraries and schools to provide factual information before elections. You can read more about the bill at http://www.mlive.com/lansing-news/index.ssf/2015/12/local_governments_school.... Press releases are also available from Michigan Library Association (http://www.milibraries.org/mla-urges-governor-snyder-to-veto-sb-571/) and from EveryLibrary (http://everylibrary.org/2000-veto-sb571-signatures-24-hours/).
