We are wondering of the library's that have we reopened to the public, What are your browsing time limits for patrons, if you have any? Also, are your allowing patrons to browse and check out your magazines? Thank you for your help.. -- Pamela Feutz Adult Services Tamarack District Library 832 S Lincoln Lakeview Mi 48850 Currently Reading Get your own email signature

We've been open for months. In December/January we started tallying visits, foot traffic, and length of browsing and computer use. I've found that patrons have limited their own time in the library and we haven't had to say anything or set policies limiting activities. We have a few who have used our wifi for a few hours to complete online classes or work but our average length of computer use is 18 minutes and browsing is less than 30 minutes. We have placed very obvious signs on the doors asking that patrons who are sick or have been sick to NOT enter but to use our curbside services and I believe most citizens are conscientious of this. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ML Tamarack Circulation via Michlib-l" <michlib-l@mcls.org> To: michlib-l@mail3.mcls.org Sent: Tuesday, February 2, 2021 8:36:57 AM Subject: [Michlib-l] Reopening questions We are wondering of the library's that have we reopened to the public, What are your browsing time limits for patrons, if you have any? We have been open for patrons to come in since late June, along with offering curbside for those that prefer it. We have no browsing time limit. Our maximum capacity has been around 10 people at one time depending on the current order from the state, and we haven't yet had to ask anybody to wait outside. Our numbers through the door have been down but our circulation is only down slightly or not at all. If patrons want to browse we ask them to use the provided hand sanitizer before doing so, and we have signs posted all over the stacks asking them to use it. Normally the only magazines we don't circulate are the current ones but we have changed that to a one week check-out to encourage people to not linger in the library. We have a few people come in to use the Wi-Fi, or our PACs but most come in, get their items and then leave. We also have been open. We allow computer usage and browsing for materials. Very few stay for long periods and we have been slow enough to not have to worry about capacity yet. We are allowing all magazines to be circulated with books. We then quarantine items for 24 hours when returned. We have been open for a while. We do not limit browsing. We find that most people come in and don't linger too long. We did limit the time on computers to one, one-hour log in. We do have some that sit at a table - mostly to just get out of their houses for a little bit. We are allowing patrons to browse magazines and to check them out. We strongly encourage hand sanitizing prior to entering the periodical area. (with a stand up dispenser right in front of the entryway). We do have capacity limits to each area and have not had a problem with overcrowding. The one exception to that was during the high school exam week where the kids had a half day, and no bus service until 3:30. They all came down to the library.... and we had to turn a few away. -----Original Message----- From: Michlib-l <michlib-l-bounces@mcls.org> On Behalf Of ML Tamarack Circulation via Michlib-l Sent: Tuesday, February 2, 2021 8:37 AM To: michlib-l@mail3.mcls.org Subject: [Michlib-l] Reopening questions We are wondering of the library's that have we reopened to the public, What are your browsing time limits for patrons, if you have any?
