Job Posting Orion Township Public Library Position: Adult Librarian Part-time Department: Adult Services Salary: $18.70 to $24.62 per hour Hours: 21 hours / week (includes evening and weekend hours) Primary Job Duties: Assist the Head of Adult Services in providing service to adults, including adult reference, programming, readers' advisory and collection development and maintenance Required Qualifications: * MLS from an ALA accredited library school or minimum of 18 credit hours * Public library experience in adult services preferred * Knowledge of library materials, reference service, popular literature, readers' advisory * Experience or interest in developing and teaching adult programing, for example book discussion groups or computer classes * Experience or interest in local history * Grant writing experience * Skills in working with community organizations * Emphasis in public service with strong ability to speak and write effectively * Ability to work independently and take initiative in developing services and programs * Ability to effectively use reference materials, operate computers, conduct telephone reference, bend and reach materials on shelves * Skilled in searching automated catalog, Internet, and library databases * Excellent Microsoft Office and other computer skills * Ability to promote and maintain effective relationships with other staff and to work in a team environment * Strong organizational and time management skills Dates: Deadline for applications is Friday, December 5, 2014 Apply To: Joyce Becker Orion Township Public Library 825 Joslyn Road Lake Orion, MI 48362 248-693-3000 Electronic submissions accepted, send to: jbecker@orionlibrary.org Please submit an application, cover letter, and resume.
