recycling Solar Eclipse Glasses

If you are reading this than you survived the great Eclipse of 2024!!!! The images of activities and families at your libraries have been filing my social media feed and I'm loving it! Great work, all. I've heard a few libraries are collecting the glasses for reuse/recycling, so wanted to share the 3 resources I've learned of: * Eclipse Glasses USA Donation<https://eclipse23.com/pages/donate-eclipse-glasses?fbclid=IwAR3PY_M7F71Ha5d2gcyKYOUhwz9ONivomx7Xlydeo0I-bVhcV1m30Jrr2vc_aem_ATVMOjMB1gKDieM6OwtEfIBDmjCAW0YPGbnq2HielqfW4qc8JlPaNMF0PMEsT0rSX-FabmbvRucSIL-3rVkCDTiN> * Astronomers Without Borders<https://astronomerswithoutborders.org/programs/solar-glasses-distribution> * Or drop at any Warby Parker Store<https://www.warbyparker.com/retail> Storing them safely for the next Solar Eclipse in the USA (August 23, 2044) or regular recycling (with the eye protective film removed) are also options. Feel free to share if you know of another good cause libraries can send returned solar eclipse glasses to... Lastly, a big shout out to StarNet's S.E.A.L. team for getting so many eclipse glasses to MI Libraries<https://www.scigames.org/eclipse/map/> (zoom in for details, snap shot below) as well as the S.E.A.L. trainings in April '23 & kits they provided through partnership with the Library of Michigan. We survived! And have LOTS of happy patrons, new patrons, and community members. Thank you, Cathy, for keeping us informed, notifying us when it was time to sign up for glasses so we had them early, scheduling the SEAL trainings, and coordinating the kits. We appreciate you!
