free online program on Michigan's Open Meetings Act, January 9

Michigan’s Open Meetings Act (OMA), or Public Act 267 of 1976 as amended, was passed in part to help build trust in government by bringing deliberations and decision into the public light through open meetings. The Open Meetings Act requires that the deliberations and decisions of public bodies be done at open meetings (with some exceptions) and sets standards for meeting notices, minutes, and public participation. Join MSU Extension for a one-hour webinar that will cover the basics of the Open Meetings Act, including key definitions from the Act, requirements, and public participation at open meetings. The presenter this month is Tyler Augst, a MSU Extension Educator, on the Government and Community Vitality Team.
