Hello, I am looking for an old picture book for a patron who read it to her daughter about 25-30 years ago. Below is what the patron remembers: * There's a little boy and a lion. * The only line she remembers is "I'm the king of the castle and you're the dirty rascal." * It was a small book with just a few lines on each page and very little color. She compared the illustrations to Maurice Sendak. * Book was published at least 25-30 years ago. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Thank you! That sounds like Pierre by Sendak. https://www.amazon.com/Pierre-Cautionary-Tale-Chapters-Prologue/dp/0060259655/ref=asc_df_0060259655/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416850358709&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9231125658956200882&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1019404&hvtargid=pla-911346981563&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=95590145644&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=416850358709&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9231125658956200882&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1019404&hvtargid=pla-911346981563 Cathy Lancaster Youth Services Coordinator Library of Michigan 702 W. I think the character in this book I remember is a girl, not a boy, but there is a lion. The title is: "A Lion in the Night" by Pamela Allen, On Thu, Oct 1, 2020 at 9:35 AM Geiken, Laura via Michlib-l < michlib-l@mcls.org> wrote:

I saw this in a review on Amazon for A Lion in the Night: Every page adds another character, another chase, another place! The story ends with "I'm the King of the castle, and your'e the dirty rascal!" Sure sounds like the patron has blended both books?! lol Good sleuthing everyone - both books are recorded on YouTube, too, if that helps the patron decide. Thank you so much, everyone! I was able to find a copy of A Lion in the Night on MeLCat for her. I also convinced her to check out Pierre, too. Have a lovely day!
