
The Sterling Heights Public Library is seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Intern to support the Library's archives and collections at the Upton House Museum! This is a part-time internship opportunity anticipated to run from September 2025 to August 2026 with scheduling ranging from 10-15 hours per week. The hourly rate of pay is $18.00. Position Summary The Library Science Student Intern reports to the Local History/Archives Librarian and the Public Services Area Coordinator, and is primarily responsible for working with the Library’s archives and collections at the Upton House Museum and assisting with weekly tours. This will involve cataloguing new physical accessions and handling historic documents and photos to help with answering historical reference questions. The Intern will also write an article for the city magazine on a related historical topic. We currently have a digital archive through the Suburban Library Cooperative and want the Intern to assist us with the digitization of our newspaper articles, as well as additional photos. Secondarily, the Intern will have the opportunity to provide reference and readers advisory services to patrons of all ages, support patrons’ use of the library’s technology services, as well as assist with programming. The goal of the Internship is to provide supervised experiences that prepare the library science student for the work of professional librarians. We can provide opportunities across library departments, and are also open to project ideas from the Intern.
