Rochelle Riley Brunch ~ 2013 Bookwoman Award

The Women’s National Book Association Detroit Chapter is proud to announce the winner of the 2013 Bookwoman Award, given bi-annually since 1991, to honor women in the book world who have made significant contributions to libraries, reading, writing, or publishing. The winner of this year’s award is Rochelle Riley. Rochelle Riley has won numerous awards, including the 2013 National Headliner Award and the 2013 Distinguished Leadership in Media award. She is a past winner of the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award and the Neal Shine Award for Media Commitment to Philanthropy. She is a four-time winner of the Michigan Associated Press Editorial Association Award, a two-time winner of a first place Salute to Excellence Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, and her columns covering the city’s corruption scandal were included in the entry that won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting. The Detroit Chapter of the Women’s National Book Association is honored to bestow the 2013 Bookwoman Award to Rochelle Riley. Presentation of the Bookwoman Award will be a brunch held on Saturday, September 28th at BRAVO Cucina Italiana, 17700 Haggerty Road, Livonia MI 48152, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m..
