The Library of Michigan is looking for a customer service oriented and technically savvy student to assist our Statewide Library Services department. The majority of the work will involve assisting library consultants carry out services and programs for the Michigan library community. A high degree of proficiency with MS Excel is required. The student assistant will be working with the MeL Team in compiling statistics as well as assisting Library Consultants on continuing education and early literacy projects. The student employee will also assist with general office tasks such as sorting mail, filing, handling calls and queries from the library community and other projects. This position requires excellent computer skills, a great attention to detail, the ability to quickly learn new software and excellent customer service. A successful candidate will be a self-starter that can handle a high degree of independent work and collaborate with our existing teams. This position will provide a broad view of library systems and services from a state library perspective. This is an excellent opportunity for a LIS student interested in gaining insight to state level operations. This is a part time position working 24 hours/week. The hourly pay is $11.59/hr. The expected employment start date is Monday, August 29. EDUCATION: The student must provide evidence of enrollment or acceptance to a postsecondary educational institution.
